Recent developments regarding legal issues with Horoscope and Phone cards have positively been proven in the Superior Court in Los Angeles County California.

On July 6th, 2006, ABC Officers seized Horoscope and Phone cards from a machine at Big Dog Ale House in El Segundo, California. Sunbelt immediately came to the defense of the owners in regard to this seizure. The law firm of Lenske, Lenske & Abramson was called to defend the legality of the cards in question. Sunbelt has used this law firm for a number of years and originally hired them to do a legal opinion for the state of California regarding our Sweepstakes cards.

After several trial postponements on the basis of the DA not being prepared, we finally got our day in court on March 14, 2007.

After a brief presentation by our attorney Bita Azimi, the judge asked the Deputy District Attorney about the case and she moved to dismiss the charges due to "insufficient evidence". "It doesn't appear to be illegal under the statute," she said.

Some of our competitors have been spreading rumors about our cards not being legal and that only theirs are because of the differences in the phone time. This is nothing more than a marketing ploy as the amount of phone time was never questioned. Don't be taken in by lures of cheap cards with extra minutes on them. Investigate the phone time provider and make sure it is a reputable company that pays tariffs and taxes in the state of California.
